J-Flag ist eine 1998 gegründete Gruppe, die die Rechte und Ziele von Homosexuellen in Jamaika vertritt (aber wegen des bestehenden Verbots von Homosexualität nur verdeckt agieren kann). Die Gruppe dankt Partnern in Nordamerika und Europa für das Engagement für die Kampagne “Stop Murder Music”. Sie bittet darum, Auftritte von bestimmten Interpreten von Dancehall-Reggae, die in ihren Liedern zu Gewalt und zur Ermordung und von Homosexuellen aufrufen (z.B. Sizzla, Elephant Man oder Bounty Killer) zu verhindern. Es solle ihnen keine Plattform gegeben werden, diese Botschaften, die in Jamaika leider allzu oft in die Tat umgesetzt werden, weiter zu verbreiten und andere Länder und Kulturen zu beeinflussen.

“J-FLAG continues to take this position mindful of the fact that the threat as well as the reality of homophobic violence hangs over the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community in Jamaica. Indeed, violence has claimed the lives of too many members of the Jamaican GLBT community. J-FLAG remains convinced that this situation is fuelled, among other things, by the anti-gay lyrics of performers within the dancehall genre. If steps are not taken to address the threat posed by such lyrics, many more members of the Jamaican GLBT community will suffer.”
